The MWB Crafter / MWB Sprinter is a great van, but they are not as big as they look on the inside.

With a floor space of 3200 x 1780mm, they are not the widest of vans.  This can have an impact on sleeping across the van.  If the bed is window height, we can line the van creatively to give a width of 184cm, add side flares to the van and the width ends up around 194cm.

The cab of the Sprinter usually has a double passenger seat.  In our opinion, changing this to a single gives more comfort and allows a walk-through from the cab.  It also integrates the front seats in with the conversion, park up and easily spin them around to use as part of your living space.

We have found a few different layouts that work with this size of van, these layouts can all be adapted to suit Boxer / Relay / Ducato L2.

The new Crafter / MAN TGE is larger on the inside and although only slightly, it does allow more options. The L3/L4 Boxer / Relay / Ducato and the LWB or XLWB versions of the Sprinter and Crafter allow for much greater possibilities.

The Family Van:

This 4-berth layout works well with 2x Single front seats that swivel to give your social seating area around the table.  The RIB seat in the back provides safe seating for 2 additional passengers and this folds down using the rotated front seats to make the extra double bed.  Available with or without side flares, the fixed bed at the back provides a huge storage area underneath:

The Social Weekender:

This 2 Berth layout has a large social seating area at the rear of the van, they provide 2x single beds or can make a very large double:

The Longer Trip:

2 Berth, this layout again provides a large rear storage area under the fixed bed, which is available with or without side pods.  It’s another fairly spacious design:

Washroom Options:

We tend to not put fixed toilets or hot water systems in these vans, we can do that, but the valuable storage space soon gets filled with large appliances, add the appliances and you also need to add water and gas storage, all possible, but starts to eat space and budget – Like everything it’s weighing up your requirements, prioritising them and then making compromises to find your perfect layout.  We can use any of these as a basis for your perfect conversion.

If you insist on a washroom, then there are a couple of layouts that work, but both are based on 2 berths.

The Washroom End Seating:

Lots of space is dedicated to seating and a washroom in this layout, giving a very compact kitchen space.

The Washroom Fixed Bed – Central Seating:

This layout still leaves a small kitchen but the storage under the bed and the additional seating make this a good long-trip base layout.

As with all our layout suggestions, we can tweak to exact requirements.  A couple of variations on the last theme:
